On the card
A young traveller in a flowered tunic steps toward the edge of a cliff, face turned to the sky, a small bundle on a staff over one shoulder and a white rose in the other hand. A little white dog leaps at his heels, either warning him or urging him on. Snowy peaks stretch behind him and a bright sun sits in the corner. The white rose stands for purity of intention, the bundle for the little he carries from the past, and the cliff for the risk he does not yet see.
Upright
General
Something new is beginning and you are being asked to trust it before you can justify it. The Fool arrives when the safest thing to do is also the most limiting. Move with curiosity rather than a five-year plan; you will learn what you need on the road.
Love & relationships
A fresh attraction or an impulsive romantic gesture with no guarantees attached. Single people can expect a connection that feels unlike anything before; couples benefit from playfulness and dropping old scripts.
Career & money
A new job, a leap into self-employment, or an untested idea worth pursuing. Money is uncertain right now, so keep the risk to what you can afford to lose while you find your footing.
Reversed
General
The leap is being taken without looking, or not being taken at all. Reversed, the Fool describes either carelessness that others will have to clean up after, or a fear of looking foolish that is keeping you frozen at the cliff edge. Work out which one applies before you act.
Love & relationships
Commitment-phobia, flakiness, or a fling entered for the wrong reasons. Someone may be promising a future they have no intention of building.
Career & money
Rash decisions with money, quitting without a plan, or ignoring obvious warnings. Alternatively, an opportunity is being missed because you are waiting for a certainty that will never come.
Advice
Take the step, but pack the bundle first. Faith and preparation are not opposites.
